After purposefully following Joker and Angel around as they were visiting the Ruins and doing nothing but torment the poor Mime Jr., Jia was finally caught when Joker just plain had enough of it. The Unown is more than a little bit of an asshole, but Joker's not worried. He's had to deal with this type before.

Considerably more difficult to catch than the rest of the Unown, Olie turned out to be silently following Joker's group about as he wandered through the ruins. And then out of the ruins... If not for Angel's empathy at work, Joker never would have realized he was being tailed. They ended up confronting the little Pokemon who seemed to have come to the conclusion that they were as safe as a trainer and his group could be. With that, they managed to peacefully convince the Unown to join up.

In comparison to the rest of the Unown, Kelly actually engaged in an actual battle with Joker's team. It wasn't much of a match, considering the level advantage, but this Unown didn't really fight against it. Them's the breaks, right?

Esme actually followed Ollie about, wanting to stick close to the cautious Unown, and took a much longer time to convince. Still, eventually the little Unown was caught and seems much happier with Ollie nearby.

Most of the Unown seem to stay out of Jia's way just for simplicity's sake, but Ratna is a lot more combative. During the Jia VS Joker's team battle, Ratna kept interfering to mess with Jia's moves. It seemed that the two didn't quite get along, or, at least, Ratna wasn't willing to just bow to Jia's jerkiness. After Joker defeated Jia, Ratna was more than happy to come along since the trainer obviously knew what he was doing.
