Soooo, turns out there was dust on it and I didn't figure that out until a whole lot of dunking pieces in warm liquids so they'd be softer. In my defense, heated up eggnog hides a lot of sins.

Yes, pity me. Though that may have been graham crackers? Where I'm from sometimes we cheap out and use those instead of gingerbread but still claim it's a gingerbread house. Either way!

Good times. Honestly though, in this case it's also because of the culture, we just... don't bake our own anything much, and graham crackers are cheap and readily available. I saw the real deal when I was little!

We just don't. Only the super rich bother to make elaborate things for themselves - or in this case, go and pay someone to make something outrageously fancy.

Ha. Ain't that always the way of things. Although it seems in some places that at least it's a little easier.

Definitely here, anyway. But then, I guess in some ways, the Ringmaster is pretty bleedin' rich and we just get benefits.

Oh, yeah, it's definitely easier here. Pay isn't a thing really, everything's provided and you get an allowance when we're somewhere with money, and I don't think yours is really more than mine? Even though you've been here what, five years?

...Is there a limit to how long someone's ever stuck it out? Feels almost like you could just keep contracting for things.

Don't think so. But most of the people past three years ended up.... leavin' after the vampire incident.

Huh. Were there more people around here back before then? There's so many empty trailers, I'm a little surprised there's a roommate situation going on at all.

Oh, that? I think that's because our good lady likes the drama.

I will take that as a 'yes' and possibly 'people didn't go on vacation within a month as often back then', then.

Honestly I'm a little surprised that I ended up being my own roommate! It's crowded enough with just me and I can get out of my own way, soooo.
