...So, me and Jimmy aren't allowed in the hotel in Violet anymore.

[Joker says it with a bit of a grin on his face as he's seated outside near Sprout Tower as it's night time. There are still probably hundreds of Noibat flapping around. There's at least a dozen attached to him and Angel the Mime Jr who's sitting next to him.]

Guess yer not allowed ta hundred bats or so in yer hotel rooms.

...Or spillin' out inta the hallways.

...Or gettin' inta the coffee pot although that wasn't on purpose.

Lesson for us all, innit?

Maybe next time think of somewhere less... populated to store them. If it ever comes up again, which it might. It might not. Who can tell?

Sure, why not? Besides, I know one a the restaurants around here- used ta work at it! Might be able ta get it cheap.

I'd definitely like ta go there when I've finished with Johto. Might be good ta have some relations over there, after all.

[Jimmy nods, reaching up to pet the Noibat on his shirt again.]

We prolly won't be able to keep all of them, but I do want to keep a couple. 'Specially this little guy here.

I see. I caught one earlier. He... likes my hair.

[He's not there now, but he was earlier.]

Yeah, Jims would know all about that, wouldn't ya?

[Joker chuckles.]

[ don't look now, but— one ( or both??? ) of you gentlemen might either feel or see a certain something at some point on this lovely night. that certain something is a small scraggy with some pretty nifty juggalo make up on, one paw balling a hefty bit of loose skinpants so it doesn't fall— while the other pickpockets their bags, or even their actual pockets. the little guy is being deathly sneaky and quiet about it, but unfortunately, he's a bit too inexperienced to go without being noticed. too many greenhorn mistakes when it comes to a true blue pickpocket.

but he does try, anyway.

"almost . . . " he whispers. the only moment where he doesn't want any senpais to notice him-! ]

[...Wow, she's confused by this.

Why were so many people being so nice? Was it a trick? How could she tell?]

Uh, okay. We could do that.

[Might as well? Her sister always wanted her to socialize more.]

[Poor bitty Juggalo. This is not going to be your day.]

[Because unfortunately, the Noibats on Joker realize what's up and once the Scraggy is close enough...]

[BATS.]

[BATS EVERYWHERE ON THE FACE.]

[HELLO THERE GOOD SIR]

Great! Let us know when yer ready for it, then~.

[The boy laughs too, nodding.]

Yup! That's where I found him.

[In reference to the bat in his arms, who is watching Royce now curiously.]

[She nods slowly.]

Okay...

[.....Uh.

Does she... end the conversation here or]

[ ahh—! ah! he can feel something! now to just lift veeeeeery carefullyoH MY GOD

he thought the bats around here were chill! alas, this is what he gets for trying to steal. trauma and a new found bat phobia.

the tiny scraggy takes cover, crouching and nearly pulling his loose skinpants over his head in shock ( and fear ) to get the noibats out of his face. "chill out!! chill!!" is what he keeps shrieking as he pulls the longer "tail" end of the loose skin over himself.

will carry this with him forever ]

[The cats all look up at Royce, who just stares back for a moment and then pulls out three Pokeballs. They meow, and he returns them, shaking the fur off of his pants. He likes these pants.]

Were the two of you in town for the gym, or for another reason?

Oh, we took care a the gym here ages ago!

[Joker leans back and reaches up to scratch one bat behind the ear.]

We're just tourin' around Johto right now for the fun of it- and ta see what new creatures are runnin' around.

Yep! Whenever a new Pokemon pops up, we head on over to check it out. These bats were a surprise though, so I'm glad we decided to stay here for a little longer!

[Joker can only pretend not to notice this for much longer before his shoulders start to shake in silent laughter and he ducks his head to take in a deep breath. Angel has no such reservations and is just LOUDLY laughing at the would-be pickpocket.]

["Serves you right!"]

Don't be mean, Angel.

[Says the man who's... only sort of trying to get a couple of bats off of the Scraggy.]

Uh, good.

[Okay then. She inspired someone, apparently. Props for her.]

And, it's good that they're all okay now.

Ah. Ampere recently swept the gym here, giving us... well. Giving us our first gym victory.

[ the laughter gets to him only after he feels that a bit of weight is getting off of him— and only then does he even think of moving again. thank arceus it was over. he goes for a few sporadic low kicks to shoo the rest away if he could, then stepping backwards and away from the small team. he doesn't want to see another bat ever again ( poor thing— trainer already has three ). but serves him right, indeed!

the booming laughter starts ringing a bit too loudly in his ears, and after scrambling to his feet, pb pulls his pants with both hands up high, puffs out his chest, and sends a leer at the mime jr's way.

he's trying hard to act tough. unfortunately, his loose skin falling down just a few seconds after he lets go to look tough is a bit comical, and if it weren't for the makeup, his face would be a darker shade of yellow. ( nevertheless, he quickly pulls them back up, and this time, makes sure to hold it . . . )

"p-peh! shut it, pinkstuff!"

females, he thinks— and to joker, he puffs out his chest with pride, tiny tears beginning to form at the corner of his eyes ( he is a big scraggy— a big, one day old scraggy that ain't afraid of no bats and being the center of embarrassment )

"laughs got nothin' on me!! and i don't need no fake soft stuff from you either, man!!"

puff! ( and a sniff . . . ) ]

Heeey, congratulations! Electric types sure do come in handy for that sorta thing, don't they?

[If Mime Jrs had any hair, this would be where Angel would flip hers. She still makes the attempt anyway, other hand on her hip.]

["At least I didn't get covered in bats! And that's Ms. Pinkstuff to you!"]

[Joker is stuck out of the loop on this one, he's afraid, but he thinks he can guess what's going on judging by how much Angel is being smug and the look he's getting from this Scraggy. He gives an easygoing shrug and props his cheek up on one fist.]

Now, why's a fella like yerself tryin' ta snatch some of our hard earned goods?
